Hostinger Minecraft Server Hosting Review

As a Minecraft server owner, regardless of whether you're new to building and growing communities or you're experienced and have several years under your belt, one of the most important decisions you'll make is what hosting service you choose to work with.

The provider you choose will directly impact what kind of budget you'll have to spend on your server, what kind of capabilities you'll have when it comes to what you can achieve with your server, and what your player experience is like.

How To Pick Your PackageHostinger Minecraft Review
Plans & Pricing
While the packages that Hostinger offer are competent and will provide a good experience for you as an owner and for your players in terms of performance and a high-quality, functional server, the prices are not so competitive. While reliable, there are certainly more server providers out there that are more affordable and offer near enough the same experience.
Ease Of Use
A super-clean experience from Hostinger that excels when it comes to mastering the basic functionalities all Minecraft server owners need. While some features could be streamlined here and there, and there’s a slight learning curve if you’re coming from Multicraft, it’s no hassle whatsoever thanks to the cleaning labeling and design.
Speed and Experience
When it comes to the player experience, everything that Hostinger has to offer is pretty clear. Fast speeds, ample connections to player regions all over the world, and customizable options to make your server as professional as possible can all be found here, and all accessible in minutes!
Support
You really can't fault Hostinger when it comes to their level of customer service, and when it comes to the hosting business, both regarding Minecraft hosting, and otherwise, Hostinger is setting the standard.

Fortunately, in my time working with Minecraft servers, I've had the opportunity to try out many different providers for one reason or another. Some have been great, while others have left me disappointed with their service.

As with any hosting provider I review on this site, I will be leaving no stone unturned in my Hostinger Minecraft server review. I will keep this review simple and straightforward, so even people with limited technical knowledge can understand what they're getting themselves into by choosing to work with Hostinger for their Minecraft server hosting needs.

Let's get straight into it and find out is Hostinger good for Minecraft Server Hosting...

Hostinger Minecraft Plans & Pricing

The first thing every server owner is thinking about is the price, meaning there's no better place to start. At the time of writing, the plans look a little something like this;

As you can see, there's a variety of packages to choose from, ranging from the $9.95 per month mark, all the way up to the $77.99 mark. These are pretty much what you can expect to pay for a premium service, but it’s worth noting the provider runs discounts at various times, so it can be worth waiting if you want a good deal.

The Alex Plan, which is the most basic and indeed the server plan you would start with as a server owner, is usually priced at $8.95 per month but is on discount at $6.95 at the moment of writing.

Sure, there are more affordable providers out there, like Shockbyte, whose plans start around the $2.50 per month mark, but they do lack some of the features that Hostinger offers, which we’ll get into shortly.

That being said, all the plans are pretty capable of what you'll want to run a server properly.

  • The performance ranges from 2GB to 16GB (depending on the price bracket), which is pretty standard.
  • All servers run on multiple CPU variations and offer full root access, which means you can customize your server files however you like.

Loads Of Minecraft Plan Features

Each package always comes with full mod support to run whatever mod packs you want and has DDoS Protection that prevents your server from being targeted by DDoS attacks, therefore protecting your player experience and preventing downtime.

What's more, each package comes with automatic off-site backups, which ensure your Minecraft world, server files, and player inventories are frequently backed up and accessible for restoring if you need to roll the server back for any reason (say you get trolls or griefers), and guarantee up to 99.99% uptime, all of which is pretty good!

There’s also a ton of extras, including;

  • Fast SSD and overclocked CPUs
  • Automatic backups of your server, world, and other flies
  • Dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
  • One-click setup on all servers and packages

Finally, and perhaps most importantly to some server owners, no dedicated server hosting options are available at the time of writing. All plans are Cloud-Based, and there simply isn't a dedicated hosting option. This won’t make too much of a difference to most server owners, but it’s worth bearing in mind if it’s important to you.

Money Back Guarantee - 30 Days

However, there is a 30-day money guarantee with every server package, so you can try before you buy, and if you don't get on with the server provider, you can simply get your money back!

Note: Both Java and Bedrock servers are available through Hostinger, although the two types of players cannot play together without modifications on your server. Hostinger does support these mods.

BizOfGames Pricing Rating For Hostinger Minecraft – 3/5

While the packages that Hostinger offer are competent and will provide a good experience for you as an owner and for your players in terms of performance and a high-quality, functional server, the prices are not so competitive. While reliable, there are certainly more server providers out there that are more affordable and offer near enough the same experience.

Is Hostinger Minecraft Easy To Use?

Next up, we're taking a look at how easy Hostinger is to use.

As a server owner, you want everything you need to do to be as easy as possible. That means there's less time trying to figure out how the system works and how you change a setting, and more time actually focusing on building your community and growing your server.

Check out some of the common tasks you may find yourself trying to complete.

  • Uploading your world files,
  • Managing your mod packs and plugins,
  • Managing your players, setting roles like administrator and mods, and banning bad players,
  • Restarting and managing the ping of your server,
  • Managing your domain names and IP addresses,
  • Managing your community,
  • Monitoring and running commands in the console, and so on.

These are all important tasks you'll be carrying out daily, so the easier they are to carry out, the better it is for you. At least, the less stress it will be for you. Managing toxic or griefing players can be a nightmare in itself, but that's another story!

Anyway, a server hosting provider needs to make this all easy, which, fortunately, Hostinger does. In fact, Hostinger is one of the best providers out there when it comes to ease of use.

Hostinger Game Panel

This is the main control panel. Whereas other hosting providers will use a system like Multicraft, Hostinger doesn't have to. Sure, there are plenty of similar features, but everything is crisp, clean, and easy to find. It's no hassle to use the Hostinger Game Panel, it gets top marks!

  • You can run the instances (the Minecraft version and preferred release number) from the main dashboard.
  • The console allows you easy access to your system console, so you can monitor the chat and run commands.
  • The config channel allows you to set your server's seed, set a password, whitelist players, set the player slot size, and so on.
  • The other tabs, like support, backups, and templates, are all pretty self-explanatory and contain the features of their namesakes.

Upgrading Your Server

Even tasks like upgrading or downgrading your server plan are easy through the configuration tab and say you wanted to upgrade your server from a 2GB server to a 4GB server, you can do so in a couple of clicks and a few minutes of your time.

There's no denying that the panel here is ultra-clean and the minimal feel makes it ridiculously easy to run and manage your server on a basic, functional level.

Speed and Experience Of Hostinger Minecraft

One of the most important aspects of a Minecraft server is the server speed. If the server connection is poor, severed, jumpy, or unstable, your players are not only going to try to connect and find themselves playing with high ping or lagging but overall having a bad time and unable to play.

Long story short; they won't hang around, they won’t call your server home, and you won't be able to grow your community or server.

So, what does Hostinger have to offer?

Global Coverage from Servers

Simply, there are five main server locations, which can be found in;

  • Lithuania
  • The Netherlands
  • US
  • UK
  • Singapore

This is pretty good in terms of global coverage, and it doesn’t really matter where your players are in the world, they should be able to connect to your servers and have a good time. Hostinger is a professional service provider and they know what they’re doing.

Based in Lithuania, they serve over 29 million customers for their internet needs that cover a whole range of internet server services, such as hosting WordPress websites, VPS Hosting, and offering access to Cyber Panels.

According to the website, Hostinger provides an average of 143ms connections to their WordPress sites, which really isn't bad for Minecraft players, especially when it varies from around the 25ms to the 150ms marks. That’s all you need for a positive server experience.

Ease Of Custom IP Address

Continuing on, you can improve your experience with the aesthetic quality of life upgrades, such as setting up a custom IP address. Of course, as standard, Minecraft players will be able to connect to your server using the default IP address (something like 123.234.34.11).

But what if you want to make your server look professional and have a domain address like 'IloveMineCraft.play.org'? Simple.

All you need to do is go to a domain provider like GoDaddy, get yourself the domain you want, and then contact the support team over at Hostinger and they’ll set everything up on your behalf! Usually, the entire process is completed in under 24 hours!

Great customer support here!

BizOfGames Speed & Experience Rating For Hostinger Minecraft – 4/5

When it comes to the player experience, everything that Hostinger has to offer is pretty clear. Fast speeds, ample connections to player regions all over the world, and customizable options to make your server as professional as possible can all be found here, and all accessible in minutes!

Hostinger's Support Is Top Notch!

Every Minecraft server providing service around has its own set of strengths and weaknesses, and each always has a unique selling point that makes it shine above the rest.

In terms of Hostinger’s experience, their shining point is the level of professional support they offer to their customers.

There is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that Hostinger provides one of the highest levels of support in the hosting business, and if this is a priority for you and your server experience, then Hostinger should be topping your list of considerations.

These are just two of the 3,000+ Five-Star reviews that can be found on the Hostinger Trustpilot page. So, what does Hostinger do that other providers don't?

24/7 Live Chat ALWAYS AVAILABLE

Quite simply, they are there for you. There's a 24/7 via the online Live Chat feature that you can access from any page, or you can submit a ticket to the team which will get back to you in an average of 24 hours. In my own experiences, this has been more like two or three hours max.

Take a look at the game panel again, and you'll see the Support option on the left-hand menu.

Knowledge Base

Everything you need to get in touch with the team can be found here, and if you're just looking something up, like a step-by-step tutorial for a certain feature, you can find a Knowledge Base of content here to browse, although there's not much when it comes to Minecraft-specific articles.

In the past, significantly when I was trailing Hostinger for myself, the Live Chat was pretty much instant, rarely waiting longer than a minute or two for a response, and my problems were solved, or my questions were answered in a very informative way.

The staff I've spoken to a handful of times were always lovely, and I always left chatting with the team with a smile on my face.

To cut a long story short, Hostinger knows what they're doing when it comes to customer service, and the chances are you'll be more than happy with what they have to offer.

BizOfGames Support Rating For Hostinger Minecraft – 5/5

You really can't fault Hostinger when it comes to their level of customer service, and when it comes to the hosting business, both regarding Minecraft hosting, and otherwise, Hostinger is setting the standard.

In my five years of experience, I've used Hostinger to host community websites, several test Minecraft servers, and even a Wiki for a plugin, and every time, whenever there was a problem or a question that needed answering, Hostinger excelled every time.

The Competition Vs Hostinger

Now, we get into the crunch of this review.

The breakdown of how Hostinger compares with other Minecraft server hosting services, giving you everything you need when it comes to choosing the provider that's right for you.

Let me break it down.

The biggest contenders to Hostinger, in my eyes, are Apex Hosting and Shockbyte. You can check out the reviews for both of these here:

  1. Apex Hosting
  2. Shockbyte

These are big fish in the Minecraft hosting game, both collectively hosting over 700,000 Minecraft servers around the world, so how does it compare?

In terms of functionality, Hostinger is pretty good. You can do everything you'll need to do at a basic level, and everything is straightforward to use thanks to the clean interface, and at the end of the day, it really just comes down to personal preference.

Sites like Shockbyte and Apex have a lot of access to a lot of powerful features, but this is simple for someone like me to navigate because I have years of experience when it comes to hosting Minecraft servers, so I know what I’m looking for.

However, if you’re new to the server hosting game, then this can feel a little overwhelming and confusing, and it could even prevent you from offering your players a positive experience. With this in mind, Hostinger is perfect for people who are new to server owning and want a simple yet powerful experience that keeps everything streamlined and running smoothly.

Here’s the Hostinger Panel compared with the Apex Hosting Multicraft Panel and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Hostinger Game Panel

It's very clear to see the difference between the two.

Apex Hosting Control Panel

These are both screenshots from the main control panels. From the Apex dashboard, and can easily monitor the server's resource usage (such as RAM and how strained the server performance is). You can change the name, the IP and sub-domains, the player slot limit, the server version, and you can upgrade your server with the click of a button.

However, unless you know what you’re looking at, it can just feel like so much is going on, whereas Hostinger ensures everything is simple and clean.

As a server owner, you're not just going to be running the server from this tech end, but you're going to be in-game.

You may be organising events, building arenas, talking with new players, and organising fun stuff for everyone to do. Understanding the new tech side of things is essential, but you need to spend most of your time in the server bringing it to life, especially when you're starting out, and you're in the process of getting everything off the ground.

This means you'll want a server provider that lets you do stuff easily. Say two players are arguing in chat, and everyone is talking about how someone gave a racist remark.

In a real-time situation like this, you need to access the chat logs as quickly as possible to get the information you need to make a professional decision about how to handle the situation.

If you’re confused and you’re not sure where to find the chat logs, for example, and it takes a long time to get the chat logs, the situation could very much be out of control. This is why Hostinger is brilliant. You can get there easily and focus on what really matters; running your server.

What’s more, comparing Hostinger to other providers, usually free ones, like MineHut and Aternos, then Hostinger definitely overperforms in comparison. The connections and customization options are far better, the performance is better, and the overall experience is just so much better.

Pros & Cons

To somewhat summarize everything we've been through, here's a list of the pros and cons of the kind of experience you'll have if you choose to work with Hostinger for your Minecraft server hosting needs.

Our Verdict

All in all, Hostinger is a top-rated web hosting service, but it is just that. A hosting web service. While it provides Minecraft hosting options, these pale compared to the other services it offers, and it's clear their attention is mainly on these.

This means as a Minecraft server owner, you're probably going to be much better off using a much more dedicated server provider solution, like Apex or Shockbyte.

However, Hostinger is a convenient choice in several situations. For example, if you're playing with your friends and you want a small private server that's easy to use, you don't have to overthink about the tech side of things, but you still want access to things like plugins and mods, then Hostinger is perfect.

The fantastic customer support team is great for ironing out any minor issues you may be dealing with, and the variety of server packages is pretty decent. If you're trying to run your Minecraft servers as a business, then Hostinger can feel limited, but if you just want a reliable service where you can just set up a server and play with your friends, Hostinger could be everything you've been looking for.
